Is Britt Dacre your real name?

Britt Dacre is a pen name. :-) The pictures on this site and my socials are actually of me, however. I use a pen name because people get weird about romance novels and I want the freedom to write racy content if I wish.

Do you use AI in your writing?

My background is in programming, so I believe AI can be useful in almost any endeavor if used wisely and ethically. I brainstorm, write, and edit with several different LLM models and embedded tools. If this bothers you, I get it, I really do. I’ve definitely been jarred out of enjoying a story I’m reading by clunky AI writing. I believe my iterative writing and editing process prevents the atrocious same-sameness that AI writing often begets, but ultimately you’ll have to judge if reading my work is enjoyable for you.

Do you use AI visuals?

I don’t use AI generated visuals in my book cover mock-ups and I work with a cover art company that uses 100% human-generated designs. All my book cover mockups (the sort of lame placeholder Power Point visuals you’ll see when a book is in pre-order and before I’ve commissioned a real cover) use stock images that I purchased for that purpose. I do have AI generate me visuals of what my characters would look like so I can picture them in my head. I also use AI to mock up what I want my book cover to look like in order to share with the book cover design team.

Where in Texas do you live?

I live in the Texas Hill Country southwest of Austin.
